Justin nominated for New Music Weekly Award
(4/11/04) New Music Weekly

The New Music Weekly Awards is an annual event celebrating top artists, music industry executives and accomplishments which have occurred throughout the year. NMW is proud to be the first and only award show not weighted down with the politics and corruption of the corporate world, but an award show showing the true talent which exists in the music industry today. NMW's motivation for providing the most updated and fairly tracked radio airplay information is owed to the philosophy of radio pioneer and legend Bill Gavin, who started Gavin as a weekly tip-sheet for radio programmers in the 1950s. It wasn't till the early 1990's that Gavin's philosophy was finally archived with the bureaucracy of major label politics . .thus the founding of New Music Weekly.

The NMW Awards, which will honor all the nominees and winners alike, is exclusive to music industry personnel, radio executives and celebrities. The NMW Awards will be held on Saturday, June 26th, 2004 at the famous Key Club Theater in Hollywood, CA.

Justin is nominated for Top 40 Male Artist of the Year.

Gay Wired Schizo review
(4/11/04) Cam Lindquist & Christian Michaels Gay Wired (thanks charlidos!)

The title may have caused controversy and angered the schizophrenic community, but music lovers won’t be angry they bought JC Chasez’s latest CD Schizophrenic! The title is a metaphor for the eclectic style of the album, which ranges from Dance and Pop to R&B-themed tunes.
By now, anyone who is anyone has heard the first single released, “Some Girls,” with a strong Latin/pop feel. The song is based on every straight boy’s fantasy of being part of a love triangle with two women. The topic may make every lesbian roll her eyes, but the beat is infectious.

“She Got Me” and “Something Special” really feature the awesome quality of JC’s voice, allowing him to shine, which is rare. Record studios often over-produce the songs with someone new to the solo scene, which doesn’t do justice at all to the artist who actually has a voice. Thank goodness that wasn’t the case here!

“If You Were My Girl,” the R&B-infused pop track, has driving vocal tracks blended perfectly with an almost ‘90s retro feel. Though it isn’t a Barry White “get your groove on” song, it definitely could be the preface to more on the way home from a romantic dinner. And to counter the ‘90s retro is a bit of ‘80s retro in “ADLIDASEX” that is reminiscent of the Bloodhound Gang’s “Animal Song.”

But my absolute favorites are the dance tracks, or at least what could be dance tracks once a few of the remixing DJ’s get hold of them. “100 Ways” has pure pop toxins with an edge without losing its quality vocal track. “Shake it” is fun and has endless possibilities… KC & the Sunshine Band would be proud. “Right Here” and “Blowin’ Me Up” are sure to keep the party going all night long!

The crown jewel of this album is definitely “Lose Myself.” An awesome power ballad that is so catchy you will hit the back button so you can sing along for a second go ‘round. I definitely recommend starting here and then listening to the rest of the CD.

My only complaint about the CD is that though the music is eclectic, the subject matter isn’t. Whether the girls are lesbians, friends, long-term lovers, or just one night stands, they all seem to break JC’s Twinkie-Boy-Heart. The upside to that is he might just need comforting!

Overall this album is definitely a must-have for any music connoisseur’s collection, a hot buy for the dancing queen in all of us, and an essential purchase for anyone who is looking for something a little different!
