“The song I released wasn't even supposed to be a
single. I guess after it came out… they were like,
'You've got to do a record now, it's kind of a big
deal.’”

Beatboxer applauds Justin
(4/23/04) ISAAC GUZMAN New York Daily News

Beatboxers around the world never thought a member of 'N Sync would be the first musician to take their somewhat obscure art form into the mainstream. But for the last few years, Justin Timberlake has been the most prominent practitioner of beatboxing, imitating the clicks, thumps and crashes of a drum machine during performances at the Grammys and MTV Video Music Awards.

...Practitioners from around the world are gathering in the city this weekend for the second annual Human Beatbox Convention, which includes a 60performer marathon starting tonight at 10 at the Bowery Poetry Club.

...These guys (beatboxers are almost all men) are the equivalent of Buddy Rich, Keith Moon and Charlie Watts. Someone with a sound like Timberlake's is just the Little Drummer Boy.

Still, Kid Lucky applauds JT for his effort.

"The only cat that's been jumping it forward right now is Justin Timberlake," Lucky says. "He's adding an element of beatboxing in a pop situation, combining it with dancing and singing.

"He's a very hard worker, and he's not doing it badly. We have no choice but to support him."

Strip tease doesn't please JC Chasez
(4/22/04) Radio 1 UK

Former *NSYNC star JC Chasez has told Radio 1 he can't stand strip bars.

He's currently at number 13 in the Official Chart with his debut solo offering 'Blowin' Me Up (With Her Love)' from his 'Schizophrenic' album.

Despite some of the raunchy tracks on the album, JC says places like strip clubs do absolutely nothing for him:

"I actually cannot stand strip bars. I mean I have my fun flirting and everything like that but they just don't appeal to me. I just feel like everybody's a sucker in there you know."

"You're paying and paying and paying and for what? Oh she really is looking at me. Yeah, whatever!"

"Don't get me wrong, I like skin as much as the next person but I think mystery is a very, very sexy thing. I think people always want what they can't have."

JC is supporting Britney Spears on the UK leg of her Onyx Hotel tour, starting next week at Wembley Arena.

Boy George prefers Justin Timberlake
(4/22/04) The Independent UK

...Who do you prefer: Justin Timberlake or Justin Hawkins, the lead singer of The Darkness?
Mo Oliver, Basingstoke

Oh, Justin Timberlake. He's got a lovely voice, but he's in need of a good song. I think a lot of those young American R&B artists have got fantastic voices and fantastic grooves, but they're not really saying anything. He's a male Beyoncé, really. Do they have nothing to say about their culture, their life or their background? They don't give that much of themselves. But he looks like a car thief and I find that quite appealing...
