*Nsync member JC Chasez is sorry that music critics have misunderstood
the sexual images in his first solo album Schizophrenic.
In the songs like "Some Girls (Dance With Women)", "All
Day Long I Dream About Sex" and "Shake It", the critics
said JC talks about wild sexuality and masturbation, this JC rejects
completely.
"I never mention that in the songs, each one interpret the
songs. The sexuality is implicit in us, we are human beings and
I mention the theme in an open way, no strings attached because
I felt it, but I don't want this be seen as careless sexuality.
I didn't do it to be controversial, some think this and I can understand
this, but I don't share that view" said Chasez.
In a phone interview from New York, JC commented that his actual
goal is to gain respect as a singer and songwriter and to be more
than just a pretty face of a group with Justin Timberlake, Chris
Kirkpatrick, Lance Bass and Joey Fatone.
Joshua Scott Chasez, known as "Mr. Serious" for being
the serious and formal one in the band, said that Timberlake and
he laugh when the media comments about the rivalry between them
as solo artists.
"We talked about it and were laughing. It's so funny because
they said we are in a competition and a fight to win. He made an
album (Justified) with a style very different than mine (Schizophrenic),
so, I don't see a comparison just because we're from the same group
and because we are almost the same age", said Chasez.
Timberlake, who won 2 Grammy in february, resorted to hip hop and
R&B in his songs like "Like I Love You" and "Señorita",
Chasez, in his first album, has the pop with 80's style and dance,
like "She Got Me" and "Blowin' Me Up (With Her Love)".
He defends Britney
He was Britney Spears's opening act in some concerts in Europe,
the 27 years old singer confirmed that experience was so good and
he again will be on tour with Britney in the Onyx Tour Hotel across
USA until the end of the summer.
“I understand the controversy with Britney and her show,
but she’s comfortable with it, I don’t see why she has
to stop herself. She is a woman, she isn’t a girl and she
has the need to express herself and sing songs more mature. There
are people who talk in a bad way about her show, they can talk;
the same with her relationships, the rumors, sometimes she doesn't
care about that, that would be illogical. There are many people
who don't like her, but there are those who like her" said
the musician born in Washington, D.C.
And he assured his relationship with the Timberlakes’s ex
is only friendship, because he met both in the Mickey Mouse Club
in Disney Channel.
Eminem's Assets Banned from MTV Movie Awards
(6/7/04) Adam Gonshor andPOP
If you're hoping to see Eminem's rear-end on Thursday night when
you watch the MTV Movie Awards, you will be disappointed. Although
the rapper mooned the crowd at the award show, which was taped Saturday,
MTV has decided to edit out the end of that performance.
Eminem performed with his D12 clan, dressed as Axl Rose of Guns
N' Roses. At the end of the performance, he pulled down his pants,
revealing his "bare backside," as the AP describes.
Skin of that extent is a no-no on MTV during this post-Janet Jackson
Super Bowl incident era. MTV wasted no time in announcing it would
not air the performance in its entirety.
This careful stance of MTV, and its parent company CBS, on what
not to broadcast has been evident since Jackson exposed her right
breast at the Super Bowl in February. The week after the final NFL
game, JC Chasez and Fefe Dobson were told they had been dropped
from the Pro Bowl (All Star game) halftime show. A video by Britney
Spears, apparently committing suicide, was shown during later hours.
MTV also was upset last week, when Avril Lavigne stuck up her middle
finger on a live broadcast of TRL.
Eminem is just the latest victim of their new stance on censoring
what might be offensive, though in this case, it appears to be justified.

Dance Music Guide Rating - 4 out of 5 stars
This album is the kind of declarative statement we rarely get from
major label acts. For his first solo record, N*Syncer JC Chasez
delivers a personal, sensually edgy record that proclaims one thing
above all else: “I love dance music.” House, electroclash,
hip-hop, funk, and even a crunked-out variation on that omnipresent
Diwali riddim from last year proliferate on this record, and in
Chasez’s house, all the various genres can play nice together.
Lead track “Some Girls (Dance With Women)” (also featured
as an album closer in a mix featuring Dirt McGirt (aka Ol’
Dirty Bastard/Big BabyJesus/Osiris)) seems to have been crafted
as a record that hip-hop, dancehall, and pop clubs could all agree
on. Chasez works with the skittery clap-and-hi-hat sequences, and
the production is excellent. Working mostly with Riprock and Alex
G (who, with their Method of Insanity Mix of N*Sync’s “I
Drive Myself Crazy” crafted the best boy band remix yet done),
but also featuring work with Basement Jaxx, Chasez lets the record
show off his range as a performer, from a couple of Prince-like
loverman ballads to the 80s punk vocals that top “All Day
Long I Think About Sex.”
We get from JC on this record a diverse statement of ability and
a more satisfying and honest work thanbandmate Justin Timberlake’s
record. “Come to Me” is a straight-up electro/house
record, and its breathy seductive quality typifies what makes Schizophrenic,
ironically, a cohesive experience. Taking Corey Hart’s “Sunglasses
at Night” and sleazing it up with some deeply tweaked synths,
Chasez gives the dance music community ar espectful and enjoyable
record that is versatile enough for any party and intimate enough
for repeated listens.
