“The song I released wasn't even supposed to be a
single. I guess after it came out… they were like,
'You've got to do a record now, it's kind of a big
deal.’”

Cameron and Justin on the way
(6/8/04) Melbourne Herald-Sun Australia

STAY tuned for the Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake show, premiering in Melbourne this morning.

Contrary to reports in the British press at the weekend, the couple are still very much together.

Sources told The Eye that the publicity-shy couple arrive in Australia today for Timberlake's intimate tour dates at Festival Hall, which kick off on Friday.

There are still tickets available for the Sunday night show.

Staying at one of Melbourne's better hotels, the couple will have lots of free time on their hands.

We reckon they'll sample some of Melbourne's best restaurants, and you can bet a trip to Chapel St will be on the cards.

A game or two of golf is on the cards too.

Apart from a few meet and greets, Timberlake is not doing interviews while in Melbourne.

Diaz's expected arrival in Melbourne today to support her boyfriend follows a number of high-profile Hollywood stars who have done the same thing.

Her Charlie's Angels co-star Drew Barrymore flew under the radar earlier in the year

while following around her boyfriend, The Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti.

Fellow A-list actor Gwyneth Paltrow made a trip down under last year to support Coldplay singer Chris Martin. Like Diaz and Timberlake, the couple were also very publicity shy.

Justin wants to play a round

JUSTIN Timberlake and Cameron Diaz arrive in Melbourne today with one thing on their minds. Golf.

US-based sources say pop star Timberlake, here for a concert tour, and movie star Diaz have asked to spend their days on Australia's finest golf courses.

Timberlake, 22, an avid golfer, knows of Melbourne's reputation as an international golf destination.

His requests, sources say, have been forwarded to Timberlake's Australian promoter, Frontier Touring Company.

Diaz, 31, on a break after promoting Shrek 2 at Cannes, will arrive with Timberlake from Los Angeles. She is not officially listed as a member of Timberlake's touring party.

Late yesterday, a Frontier Touring spokeswoman could not confirm Diaz's travel plans.

Diaz will lie low while tagging along with Timberlake. She is expected to attend his shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

Sources say Diaz may want to surf, but is likely to visit warmer beaches in Sydney or Brisbane.

Timberlake and Diaz are low maintenance and have not requested fancy restaurant reservations or shopping sprees.

"The agenda is the shows," said a source close to Timberlake. "And some golf."

Timberlake refuses to talk about Diaz, former girlfriend Britney Spears or the Boobgate controversy with Janet Jackson.

Timberlake performs at Festival Hall on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are still available for his Sunday show.

JC Chasez Creates 'Musical Journey' With Solo Album
(6/8/04) Adam Gonshor andPOP

When JC Chasez started working on his solo album, he decided the most important thing was not airplay, sales, or critical praise. He made "Schizophrenic" exactly the way he wanted. Unlike his 'N Sync bandmate Justin Timberlake, Chasez chose not to go to the sure-hit producers, but rather to find a unique sound in himself.

Chasez combines pop and dance, creating an electro-vibe. He calls the album "a musical journey."

However, promoting his solo album hasn't been easy. First, he was axed from the Pro Bowl (NFL's All Star game) halftime show because of the Janet Jackson-Super Bowl backlash. Then there were complaints about his album cover (which sees him tied up at a mental institution). And now he has to deal with radio stations finding his new single "All Day Long I Dream About Sex" unsuitable to play.

Yet Chasez is thankful for the opportunity to create a solo album, and if he doesn't get back together with 'N Sync soon, he may just make another.

JC Chasez took some time to speak with andPOP before playing a show in Toronto. Watch the interview to hear about the album, touring, the new single, and the possibility of an 'N Sync reunion.

'NSYNC To Perform, Discuss Future At Charity Basketball Game
(6/8/04) Corey Moss MTV

For the first time in its six-year history, 'NSYNC's annual Challenge for the Children charity event will feature a performance from the group.

Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, Lance Bass and Chris Kirkpatrick — who last took the stage together for an a cappella Bee Gees medley at the 2003 Grammy Awards — will sing the national anthem at the celebrity basketball game that is the centerpiece of the festivities.

"If you're an 'NSYNC fan, it'll be the first time we've sung together in a few years, so it'll be good," JC Chasez revealed over the weekend. "We're gonna raise some money for some kids."

Backstage at the Wango Tango festival a few weeks ago in Pasadena, California, Chasez said the group planned to discuss its future at the event, scheduled for July 23 to 25 in Miami Beach.

"[Reuniting for an album] is always in the back of all of our minds," Chasez said. "And it's definitely going to be a topic of discussion, so we'll see what goes down."

As for the Challenge for the Children event, each of the guys will be participating in the game on July 25 as well as the celebrity skills challenges in the days prior. Ticket details are available on 'NSYNC's Web site.

"We just want to attract people to give," Chasez said. "We plan events that are gonna show people a good time. Usually when people have a good time they're more likely to cough up a little bit of dough. They're willing to part with it a little more. So that's our goal, to raise money, have a good time, and that way everybody wins."
