“The song I released wasn't even supposed to be a
single. I guess after it came out… they were like,
'You've got to do a record now, it's kind of a big
deal.’”

Justin's Down-Home Holiday
(7/8/04) People.com (thanks just_justin LJ community!)

It was a down-home Fourth of July weekend for Justin Timberlake, who took his sweetie, Cameron Diaz, to Memphis to see some family and, well, pay tribute to Elvis. Cameron stood by her man as he became an "ambassador of Memphis" (along with Isaac Hayes and others) Monday during the 50-year anniversary celebration of Presley's recording of the song "That's All Right" at famed Sun Studios. She waved at fans as Justin signed autographs, and the pair was gone before noon.

Justin popped up again in New York on Tuesday night to catch his former 'N Sync bandmate Joey Fatone's performance in Broadway's Little Shop of Horrors. Afterward he headed over to hotspot Suede for Fatone's weekly TNT Tuesday night party, arriving at 11:30 and partying till 3 a.m. (Cameron will be happy to know that although she wasn't there, Justin politely rebuffed all the female admirers who approached him.) At one point Justin was having such a great time that he stood up, grabbed the microphone and said, "This is for my friends Eytan (Suede's owner, Eytan Sugarman) and Joey," and proceeded to sing an impromptu version of his hit song "Like I Love You." With the crowd in a frenzy, Justin stayed on the mic, instructed resident DJ Quinn which songs to play and sang along to hits by Michael Jackson, Prince and Jay-Z.

Freeman says Justin's a hard worker
(7/8/04) Michael Donahue The Commercial Appeal

...Morgan (Freeman)'s been busy these days. He made the upcoming movie, "Edison," which also stars Justin Timberlake. Of Timberlake, Morgan said, "He did very well, indeed. I enjoyed him. We had a lot of fun together. He's a hard worker."

Justin has the potential to be an actor, Morgan said. "I think he could be if he wanted to. That would mean going somewhere and developing a different voice. His is too high..."

LL Cool J Calls Timberlake 'Incredible'
(7/8/04) Shaheem Reid and Curtis Waller MTV

...Cool J already dove into movie mode earlier this year, filming "Slow Burn" with Ray Liotta, and he just completed work on "Edison" with Justin Timberlake, Morgan Freeman and Kevin Spacey.

"It's my most dramatic role," he said of "Edison," in which he plays a police officer who has to make some serious choices in his life and career. "It was the most challenging role I've ever had. Working with Morgan and Kevin and just being around people like that was a blessing for me. It's kinda like being in the NBA and being in two or three years and getting to play in the all-star game with the best people in the league. It was amazing.

"Justin is incredible, we had a lot of fun," he added. "We talked about a lot of things on the set, hung out."

In "Slow Burn," LL plays a gang leader. According to Cool J's spokesperson, there is no confirmed release date for either "Slow Burn" or "Edison"...

Justin mention in Newsweek

Splashy parties have long been a staple at the political conventions. But the new campaign-finance rules have somewhat altered the planning for this year's festivities. The parties used to be paid for primarily with soft money raised by lawmakers and political parties, but under the new law, this year's galas are being funded by corporate sponsors and, in some cases, the attendees themselves, who are being asked to pay stiff admission charges. Among the hot tickets at the upcoming Democratic convention in Boston: a gala (paid for by as yet unnamed corporate sponsors) honoring Sen. Edward Kennedy, emceed by actress Glenn Close and featuring performances by Bono and the Boston Pops; a "Caribbean Beach Bash" honoring Sen. John Breaux of Louisiana, featuring Ziggy Marley; and a party honoring Rep. Harold Ford of Tennessee thrown by Memphis-based FedEx and Bell South, where Justin Timberlake is expected to perform...

JC CHASEZ - 'ALL DAY LONG I DREAM ABOUT SEX'
Crumpets, this man has got more hormones fizzing inside him than Lee Ryan on ladies' night. JC wants sex, day and night, 24/7, like a love machine [mmm, bad, bad lyrics] and probably with half of Noah's ark, given the chance. But instead of sounding like a rock god from Venus, he resembles one of those sweaty tykes from Year 9 who's eyes never travel north of a lady's chest. The '80s synth that wines in between JC's mating cries is a clumsy attempt at porn-flick cheek while frantic hand-clapping and a bit of panting do nothing to save this single from naff-dom. We just hate to think what his chat up line is...
