“The song I released wasn't even supposed to be a
single. I guess after it came out… they were like,
'You've got to do a record now, it's kind of a big
deal.’”

ADIDAS is Hot Hits Pick of the Week
(7/30/04) The Hot Hits Australia (thanks Jayne!)

This week's hit pick:
JC Chasez
All Day Long I Dream About Sex

Paris Hilton wants JC to be on her new record label "Heiress", but at this stage she'll have to see how his new solo album fares before she makes a move. JC and Justin came up with the idea for the band NSYNC when they were in the Mickey Mouse Club all those years ago. JC has had to wait in the shadows while Justin blew up everywhere. He then did a vocal on the Basement Jaxx album, and now has his own set of songs to sell. And let's face it, sex sells.

SX News ADIDAS review
(7/30/04) SX News Australia (thanks Ozgirl!)

Former NSYNC-er JC CHASEZ has broken free of the boy-band label and the Justin Timberlake comparisons to release his first solo material. This first hit off the album “Schizophrenic” is totally fantastic. Combining the styles of rock, pop, R&B and the synths of new wave 80s songs he has fused them together to make a very original and highly catchy sound. The chorus lends itself to a sound not too different from Dead or Alive’s “You Spin Me Around” while the synths add new dimensions to the song. Vocally he is very capable and probably a little richer than Justin. If you have a chance to watch the music video for this song it is worth it. It’s been created with the use of old and new camera lens’ and JC looks unreal in the outfits he wears. It has been a hit already overseas and hopefully will do well here.

Voice of Bart Simpson steps into limelight
(7/30/04) Keily Oakes BBC News

The Simpsons is one of the longest running TV programmes in history, now running in to its 16th season. But Bart, the colourful boy who tears up the town of Springfield, has never grown older than 10.

The distinctive voice behind the troublesome child is Nancy Cartwright, who can slip in an out of Bart mode effortlessly.

...During her one-woman show she will talk about the guest stars who take part in the show. Although there have been more than 350, from Meryl Streep to Tony Blair, only a handful of them make into the studio at the same time as the regular actors.

"My daughter will never forgive that I didn't get to work with 'NSync when they recorded an episode..."

Toronto Rocks serves up more satisfaction this time
(7/30/04) ANDREW RYAN The Globe and Mail Canada

Finally, some Satisfaction. At last we get to see Mick and Keith and the boys rockin' it onstage at that monster SARStock concert last summer -- a year ago today, don't you know. This time, we get to watch them play an entire song! Maybe.

Get your ya-ya's out: Toronto Rocks (CBC, 8 p.m.) is an assortment of performances from the concert that drew nearly a half-million witless souls to a Downsview airbase field, where they spent a sunny, peaceable enough day drinking overpriced bottled water and watching a dozen or so retro artists and groups, plus Justin Timberlake, warm up for The Rolling Stones. On this highlight special, as in the concert, as always, the Stones are the headliners.

The SARStock concert sold more tickets for a single event than any other in Canadian history. No one was there to see The Blues Brothers reunion tour, with Jim Belushi and John Goodman flopping about like narwhals in the middle of the afternoon. Some fans showed up to see Sass Jordan, no question, but most everyone else really came for The Stones.

Even though they're into their 60s now, and Charlie Watts is already embalmed, The Rolling Stones remain the highest paid and most closely watched dinosaurs in the rock kingdom. The Stones can still fill those sports arenas, which is all that counts to their mother label.

Stones fans are legion and exist from tour to tour; some since the sixties, whew. Some of them named their daughters Angie. True fans are still willing to line up and drop a C-note or more per seat, just to watch their creaky heroes grind out the exact same 90-minute greatest-hits collection they paid to see them play the year before. By now I think the roadies just zap Keith to wake him up and then put on a tape.

I would have really loved to have been at the concert last summer, just to witness the raw humanity sprawl, but I was stuck watching the big show and writing about it for The Globe's day-after section. The SARStock TV coverage ran about 11 hours and was a terrible letdown, particularly for those who devoted that time waiting for a Stones payoff. It was bait-and-switch TV.

The daytime and early-evening coverage was scattered, at best, which was fine since nobody important was performing. When time came for some of the bigger names, like Rush, The Guess Who and AC/DC, the TV cameras were allowed to film each act in brief shots for one, maybe two songs, before switching immediately to generic crowd shots from various angles, or to reporters located far from the madding crowd. There was no sense of being at a rock concert, or an event. It was irritating to watch.

And the live coverage became much, much worse during the 12 or so minutes allotted to the Stones performance in the dying minutes. The camera was trained anywhere but the stage; I think I saw Mick's leg-warmers for a moment. There was cross-country squawking the next day from viewers, who were angry about the show they didn't see.

Tonight's highlight package will be less secretive, since it's culled from the officially-sanctioned footage, filmed by officially-sanctioned crews situated close to the stage at the same time local TV cameras were interviewing hot dog vendors. This is also likely intended as a promotional kick in the pants for the officially-sanctioned DVD set, which was released a month ago. You can bet that baby isn't flying off the shelves.

The performances shown are still quite short, but the program does confirm one fact made obvious even from the shoddy TV coverage at the time: AC/DC stole the show.

Platinum Television Group readies UNTUCKED!—a new show for teens, tweens and parents
Major production company to offer new show for young people on cable networks
(7/30/04) PRWeb

Deerfield Beach, FL (PRWEB) July 30, 2004 -- Platinum Television Group, a leading producer of innovative educational shows aired on national and local cable networks, will soon launch its newest show—UNTUCKED!—for teens, tweens and their parents. The show will give the 411 on fashion, health, beauty, decorating, electronic toys, hobbies, teen issues, volunteer and other service organizations and so much more.

This past weekend, PTG went on location in South Beach (Miami, FL) to kick off UNTUCKED! Film crews attended NSYNC’s annual charity event, the Challenge For The Children® VI, along with one of the show’s hosts, Michael Cohen, a contributing editor for In Touch Weekly, and a guru of celebrity gossip. He contributes weekly as well to “Deco Drive,” an entertainment program aired in South Florida. Michael and PTG
produced some exciting segments, including a rare interview with the members of NSYNC poolside at the Roney Palace. Justin, JC, Lance, Joey and Chris shared their experiences as teens and offered up some advice. The film crew also mingled with a wealth of celebs from the worlds of sports and entertainment.

As if the weekend couldn’t get any hotter, PTG also covered the action in South Beach. Cameras went inside the fabulous Loew’s Miami Beach Hotel for a chat with April Murena, director of entertainment travel, about all the amenities there for teens: hi-tech gadgets like plasma TVs, Play Stations and computer hookups; and with executive chef Marc Ehrler, on what he prepares to keep teens in shape. PTG also visited the oceanfront Continuum’s “the Sporting Club,” where many stars work out, and Marco Borges, club owner and celebrity fitness trainer, outlined the top workouts, exercise routines and nutrition tips to be “diesel” and fit. There were also insider tips from leading sportswear designer David Lopez, and skin care routines from Carol Cabrera, certified aesthetician at the club. And more—the creator of Jillicious cosmetics, Jillian Jacobson-Alti, revealed make-up secrets so YOU can get that glamorous glow.

Excitement is riding high for this UNTUCKED! premiere, as the show aims to convey the same feeling teens and tweens might get attending a hip-hop concert, cheering for their top sports team, or being “in the scene.” It’s that ultimate “high”—of connecting, feeling confident and in the know. UNTUCKED! will air on such hot networks as The WB, Fuse, UPN, Spike TV, and other music and sports channels starting in 2005! Don’t miss it!
