...The area's trend toward roots and Americana music was well-represented with Dennis Brennan and son Jake winning awards. That became the butt of jokes for the rest of the night...

(9/23/05) DJournal

WHERE TO GO FOR TICKETS:

Tickets for Mississippi Rising are available through the Ole Miss Athletics Department at (888) 732-8587 or (662) 915-7167. Proceeds will benefit the Fund or the New Orleans Recovery Fund.

Daily Journal report

OXFORD - University of Mississippi officials said Thursday about 1,500 tickets for the Oct. 1 Mississippi Rising concert have been sold.

The figure did not distinguish between people buying floor tickets and those purchasing the less expensive tickets in the stand at Tad Smith Coliseum, said Barbara Lago, director of Media and Public Relations.

Lago said the university will not seat people behind the coliseum stage, thus lowering the capacity of the facility to between 4,200 and 4,500 people.

Mississippians scheduled to appear at the three-hour show include Morgan Freeman, John Grisham, Brett Farve, Lance Bass, Archie and Eli Manning and Sela Ward.

More stars

And the list keeps on growing.

Wednesday, organizers announced that country music singer Faith Hill, a Star native, has joined the lineup.

Ticket prices are $30 for seats in the stands and $100 for floor seats.

The event, set at Tad Smith Coliseum, will be nationally televised on MSNBC, as well as local television stations throughout Mississippi

Massive online auction
(9/23/05) MTV.com

For the right price, you might find yourself partying with Paris on New Year's, boarding with Justin at Big Bear or donning Jessica's signature daisy dukes — and all for a worthy cause.

These are just three of the items being auctioned off as part of uBid for Hurricane Relief, a massive online celebrity auction to benefit the victims of Katrina and Rita (see "Hurricane Rita Could Cause More Damage Than Katrina").

More than 100 of Hollywood's hottest celebrities have donated one or more items for the charity drive, including: Britney Spears and Kevin Federline; Jessica and Ashlee Simpson; Ashton Kutcher; Cameron Diaz; Nicole Richie and her fiance, DJ AM; Zach Braff; George Clooney; Jessica Alba; the cast of "The O.C."; Black Eyed Peas; Vince Vaughn; Hilary and Haylie Duff; and Scarlett Johansson. More celebs are being added to the mix on a daily basis, thanks to added support and organizational efforts from Kutcher, A.J. Discala and 'NSYNC's Lance Bass.

"It just seems like more and more of these celebrities are being attracted to this and joining the team," uBid spokesperson Tony Priore said. "I'm just shocked at how big it's gotten during the week and a half [since] we've started assembling it, and it seems like it's only going to get better. We're definitely trying to aim as high as we can with this."

uBid will break away from its online drive at uBid.com to kick off the auction with a star-studded bash October 15 at the Empire Ballroom in Las Vegas. Several prominent musicians are slated to perform and two dozen high-profile items will be up for auction at the event, although the details are being kept at bay for now, Priore said.

The entrance fee for the event is a $200 donation, while private tables are being offered at an additional cost. Tickets can be purchased through Ubid.com starting September 26.

All the proceeds generated from the efforts will go to three charities focused on aiding hurricane victims and alleviating recovery efforts: the Brett Favre Fourward Mississippi Relief Fund and the Child Welfare Relief Fund, which aid children victims of the hurricanes; and the RockWorks Foundation, which provides the displaced with opportunities to get them back on their feet and start rebuilding what they lost.

The uBid online auction will run from October 15 through the first week of November. Some of the items up for bidding include:

* Jessica Simpson's daisy dukes, worn in The Dukes of Hazzard and signed by the singer/actress
* Snowboard with Justin Timberlake at Big Bear or Mammoth Lakes
* Fly on a private jet with your friends to Miami and party with Paris Hilton at Club Paris on New Year's Eve
* Co-direct a segment of "Punk'd" with Ashton Kutcher
* Adam Brody's autographed 2004 Teen Choice Award surfboard
* An outfit worn by Ellen DeGeneres on an episode of her talk show
* Lunch on the set of "Las Vegas" with Molly Sims and Vanessa Marcil
* Colby Donaldson's torch from "Survivor: The Australian Outback"
* Golf with Brett Favre
* Private poker lesson with pro player Annie Duke
* Walk-on roles on "Scrubs," "Arrested Development," "That '70s Show" and other TV shows

A decade of Web search
(9/22/05) CNET.com

Paris and Britney, eat your hearts out.

When it comes to longevity as the most-searched for diva on the Web, Pamela Anderson wins hands down. The former Baywatch star has nabbed the top spot in Lycos's list of the most popular search terms in the decade since September 1995, when the search engine began tracking queries.

Britney Spears came in at No. 4 and was the most sought-after singer on Lycos Search. Others in the top 10 included Pokemon, Las Vegas and Christmas. N' Sync topped the list of most searched for bands, and Anna Kournikova dominated athlete searches. The Simpsons and Star Wars were the hottest TV and film titles, respectively.

Lycos, a division of Korea's Daum Communications, released the top 50 list this week to mark its 10-year anniversary.

FACT: JC does not give "someone" permission to give out personal info that she is getting from a friend of a friend at Jive stating that she talks to JC on a daily. Your busted!

There are some out there that will have accurate information but that does not mean everything they say is true or JC wants it to be known. I have a responsability to write what I can without leaking information he or Jive wishes to keep private, at least until things are a definate.

And then there are times where the leaks are actually ahead of JC, This is the best one yet.. JC found out about his song not making it on the US version of the Santana record by reading it on MF. He used to get his calender from DirtyPop.net before he could get it from Jive. What he said on MTV the other has already changed. I guess what I am trying to say is that everything during this process is changing everyday. He has worked with over 30 different producers finding the right sound for this record. Out of those 30 producers there are another 30 assistants, engineers and managers add to the mix so you can see how many people have insider information and how anyone with enough time on their hands can get it. I wont bullshit you guys with useless info and then the record comes out and it was all false. Then on the other hand there is stuff I do not know. You can believe who ever you want but dont come crying to me when it turnes out FALSE!

This post is only for a select few trouble makers out there that are using MF as a power trip, or if you are an imaginary ex-girlfriend or real ex-girlfriend, I know who the real ones are.

There are a few people here on MF that are good friends with JC and do have insider info, but they are not the ones spreading the news, a cha cha cha!

Well I guess I get worked up about it, but you cannot control the flow of information, people will say what they want, but its all in HOW they say it and not WHAT they say that will clue you in. Just to recap, some of these leaks of information ARE true but that does not mean its ALL true.

On to the MF questions. We tried to record last night but I reset JCs linksys by accident trying to use Skype to record the conversation. We will attempt again tonight.

Jive is not going to let us host any JC exclusive audio this time around, they think their site will be better than ours will be, oh but they wont have like, user blogs, video from him, PM's to other users, so you get the picture, it will most likely going to be like his old one. Oics that we all have information that the fans had before the Jive and a moderated by Jive forums. JC agrees that we will kick their asses just too bad we cant host an exclusive song. It might change when Jive realizes that MF (The coming soon section) is where we all hang and give in.

SO THIS IS A CHALLENGE TO JIVE!! COME TES!!!

This was mainly for a few like I said earlier, the other 98.6482% I love you all!

Ya, its pretty crap that when you are not official you can post what ever you want (Audio, video etc) and get away with it. I am actually for the un-official site because its un-biased and not under supervision. As long as we dont go over the edge we wont really be supervised by Jive. It's a fine line and an age old complaint. The truth is if you are not connected to the labels or the artists you can pretty much get away with having content and I also think that helps out the scene. So if you are reading this and you have a site I say GO FOR IT! I will link to the stuff that I cant put up! ahaha.

On another note, for those of you who dont know much about Eric Podwell I will fill you in. I love the guy, I think he is one of JC's biggest supporters and one of the best things that could of happened. He worked for NSYNC from the early days, There was a lack of comunication between artist and label last record and signals got crossed. Eric is an honest diplomat for JC and what ever JC needs Eric can make it happen and also is a great advisor. I trust him and am gonna do the old italian VOUCH for him, Full of life and very hungry. Eric has also in no way influenced the direction of the music. As for Jive they are very powerfull in the more CH-urban side of things and for JC to flurish his album will need to reflect Jives strengths. His record will still sound like a JC record so don't worry about that, Yes he has worked with a few of the same producers as JT but they dont sound like JT songs, he is also working with a lot of producers that JT did not use. The role of the producer is to get whats in the artists head and make it come to life and thats whats happening here, JC is still writing on the songs. Jive is most concerned about the singles. So there will still be some eclectic tunes for your pleasure. From a business standpoint this record must be big or else JC will loose the ear of the public. Once that happens JC will be able to follow up with some great albums for as long as he wants. This record in no way will be something that JC doesn't want or be embaressed by. In order for Jive to push the record they need to feel thay can work it properly using their resources. This is a good thing in the long run as JC has a long carrer in front of him. It's not a "If you cant beat em, join em mentality" but a "lets work together on this".

Can Timberland or Dallas Austin make better songs than a new or no name producer.. the answer is no, but when you are a radio DJ that doesnt know shit about music thats what they look for. MTV is the same, if JC has a hit on the radio they will then open up the doors for him to express him self more in the future, this is what the common goal between Jive and JC.

JC Chasez Promises Next Solo Outing Will Be Less Schizophrenic
(9/19/05) MTV.com

Note: Please visit the MTV link above to let them know there is interest in stories about JC! Every visit counts!

If JC Chasez's first solo album left you feeling a bit confused (hey, man, it was called Schizophrenic), you weren't alone. But the 'NSYNC frontman is planning to tighten the ropes a bit for his sophomore LP.

"This one is going to be a little more pop-alternative," Chasez said recently. "The last one had a pretty broad spectrum, so this time I'm gonna give people more of a journey in the same direction."

The singer has been holed up in a recording studio for a good part of the year recording the follow-up to his 2004 debut, which spawned the singles "Some Girls (Dance With Women)," "All Day Long I Dream About Sex" and the heart-tugging ballad "Build My World."

While Chasez has yet to determine which tracks will make the final cut, he says this is a project he is "really proud of."

"There's one song I wrote called 'Satellite' that's very metaphorical," he said. "It's about two people being out of reach, just orbiting each other."

The 29-year-old has been working with an assorted group of beatmakers from coast to coast to produce the project. So far, Chasez has hit the studio with Jimmy Harry (Kelly Clarkson, Britney Spears) in Los Angeles, David Maurice (U2, Madonna) in New York and Timbaland (Missy Elliott, Brandy) in Miami, where the odd couple laid down the uptempo track "Fire."

"I really respect Timbaland's opinion and his take on music," the singer said. "He's a very talented guy and real quiet — at least until you get into the recording studio with him!"

Chasez has yet to title the LP. "I have a couple ideas kicking around in my head, but I'm not sure," he said. "Once I'm done writing, then I'll decide."

You can expect the first single to drop by the end of this year, Chasez said, with the full record out by early 2006.

And despite claims by bandmate Lance Bass that more 'NSYNC music is on the way (see "Will 'NSYNC Go All Backstreet Boys On Us? Lance Says Yes, Joey's Less Sure"), Chasez says the group has no plans to record at the moment. 'NSYNC's only collaboration will be to continue their annual charity event, Challenge for the Children, to raise money for a variety of causes.

But all is not lost for fans of the boy band, which once claimed worldwide domination, selling more than 42 million records internationally. The group's label, Jive Records, plans to release an 11-track compilation disc filled with 'NSYNC's chart-topping singles. 'NSYNC's Greatest Hits is slated to hit stores October 25.

Track list for the album, according to Jive Records:

* "Bye Bye Bye"
* "Girlfriend" (featuring Nelly)
* "This I Promise You"
* "It's Gonna Be Me"
* "God Must Have Spent a Little More Time on You"
* "I Want You Back"
* "Pop"
* "Gone"
* "Tearin' Up My Heart"
* "I Drive Myself Crazy"
* "I'll Never Stop"
* "Music of My Heart" (featuring Gloria Estefan)

Timberlake talk

If Justin Timberlake is planning to cross the Atlantic and make his London theater debut, officials at the Old Vic are denying it, Zap2it.com reports.

British tabloids reported this week that Old Vic artistic director Kevin Spacey recruited his "Edison" co-star Timberlake to star in Arthur Miller's "Resurrection Blues" early next year.

The British press have had a field day with rumors that the former boy band hottie and girlfriend Cameron Diaz are planning on coming to England.

"That would be nice, but no, it is not true," an Old Vic spokesman says. "No casting has yet been confirmed."
